Good morning New Life Church Family,

Welcome to New Life Church and our weekly online service. May the Grace of our Triune God be with you all! What follows below is our liturgy with text and video to songs, with an audio to this weeks sermon.

Today is the first sermon from our  “Sermons from the Heart” series.  Sermons from the Heart are sermons prepared from the leadership that will touch an array of topics from selected scriptures. The words to the songs should appear in the youtube videos for each song–or as text below the video. Thank you for joining us for our worship on-line! May the Lord bless you as you worship Him this day in Spirit and truth. If you need prayer please feel free to reach out to any one of the leaders at New Life. We would love to pray for you and serve you as best we can. Blessings.

Grace and love to you,

-Pastor Frank, Joe Bruhl, Jordan Francis, and Daniel Barea

Order of Worship, August 9, 2020

Prayer of Invocation

*Call to Worship: Psalm 29

Leader: Ascribe to the LORD, O heavenly beings, ascribe to the LORD glory and strength. Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name; worship the LORD in the splendor of holiness.

People: The voice of the LORD is over the waters; the God of glory thunders, the LORD, over many waters. The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is full of majesty.

Leader: The LORD sits enthroned over the flood; the LORD sits enthroned as king forever.

ALL:  May the LORD give strength to his people! May the LORD bless his people with peace!

Hymn: A Mighty Fortress is our God (Trinity, 93)

Song: The Lord Will Provide (Matthew Smith)

Confession of Sin

*Confession of Sin: 2 Pet 3:5-11 scoffers will come in the last days with scoffing, following their own sinful desires.  They will say, “Where is the promise of his coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all things are continuing as they were from the beginning of creation.”….The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.  But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a roar, and the heavenly bodies will be burned up and dissolved, and the earth and the works that are done on it will be exposed.   Since all these things are thus to be dissolved, what sort of people ought you to be in lives of holiness and godliness, waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God...

Question for Reflection: Do I persevere in the faith in a culture that is hostile to it? Do I pursue a holy life in light of Christ’s return?

Silent Confession/Corporate Confession of Sin: Lord, you call us to persevere in a culture that is hostile to your gospel and the truth of your soon return in judgment. Yet, we confess that we allow the fear of man to silence us, and we do not live holy lives in light of your return. Forgive us as we rest our hope on Christ who suffered for our sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God.  Pour out your Holy Spirit upon us so that we preserve in our faith and hunger to live holy lives that bring glory to you. In Christ’s name we pray. Amen.

Assurance of Pardon

*Assurance of Pardon:1 Pet 3:18 For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit

Leader: Brothers and sisters, this is the Gospel!

People: Thanks be to God!

*Affirmation of Faith: Heidelberg Catechism Q 1

Leader: What is your only comfort in life and in death?

All: That I am not my own, but belong—body and soul, in life and in death—to my faithful Savior, Jesus Christ. He has fully paid for all my sins with his precious blood, and has set me free from the tyranny of the devil. He also watches over me in such a way that not a hair can fall from my head without the will of my Father in heaven; in fact, all things must work together for my salvation. Because I belong to him, Christ, by his Holy Spirit, assures me of eternal life and makes me wholeheartedly willing and ready from now on to live for him.

Hymn: Jesus, What a Friend for Sinners (Trinity,498)

Song: Jesus, Lover of My Soul

Hymn: Before the Throne of God above (Trinity, Back Cover)

-Pray for the local bodies here within the Vicenza area; pray for the pastors and leaders to be faithful to the Gospel and for souls to be saved.

-Pray God would use COVID for His glory. Pray that He would save many souls during this time and sanctify His bride.

-Pray that God would continue to bless New Life Church; pray that He would continue to bless our body as a community of believers to be faithful to our call.

-Pray for all of the married couples at New Life Church to grow in their faith and commitment in their marriages; pray that God would pour out His grace on each and every couple.

-Pray that God would provide a way for Joan and Frank Ellis to come to Vicenza! That He would open up job opportunities on post.

The Lord’s Prayer: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For yours is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
